LANSCO 5021 Milori Blue offers costs savings to solvent paint formulators who can take advantage of its value in use. It is about 2/3 the strength of Phthalo Blue but costs about half the price and is therefore a low cost replacement for Phthalo Blue in some systems.
There are important limitations to where LANSCO 5021 Milori Blue should be used. Lightfastness is a key consideration as this pigment’s good lightfastness drops off quickly in tints with TiO2. This pigment is also alkali sensitive and is not generally recommended in powder coatings. Drum enamel coatings and other solvent based applications where cost control is important are good target applications. The ink industry has long used this pigment to tint blacks to a more jet shade.
